Hy’s is celebrating our 70th anniversary this year. To celebrate, we’re offering four retro-inspired cocktail creations.
Very Old Fashioned — We’re taking you back to 1955 with our Very Old Fashioned. It was a staple on Hy’s first cocktail menus and one of his personal favourites. This drink is a tribute to Hy himself, featuring top-shelf Canadian rye with hints of tobacco and sage. Each Very Old Fashioned is served in a commemorative glass featuring Hy’s vintage logo.
Blue Hawaiian — Sip a taste of paradise with our Blue Hawaiian. This azure beauty had a contemporary glow-up with coconut fat-washed rum. A gorgeous looking cocktail, it was born in 1957 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki, right around the time Hy’s was hitting its stride and starting to expand outside of Calgary. Taste a vacation with every sip.
Tom Collins — Our 70th Tom Collins brings a refreshing touch of class to this old school staple with a splash of rosemary syrup.
Shirley Temple — Shaved ice and a cherry on top. A non-alcoholic treat for both those young and young-at-heart.
Helping a great cause
A portion of the proceeds from each cocktail will be donated to the John Aisenstat Memorial awards offered through local community culinary and hospitality schools in each of Hy’s cities. (VCC, SAIT, RRC Polytech, George Brown) These financial awards help to support young people pursuing hospitality and culinary arts as careers.
